Every Good Boy Deserves A Favor
Chapter 2
Integra was left pondering the prospect of Iscariot breaking the fragile treaty between the Catholics and Protestants when Alucards fledgling Seras Victoria knocked on the office door. Seras had been part of the clean-up crew sent to the laboratory but her specific mission was to make sure a Dr Harker was unharmed. Integra knew better than to give that particular mission to Alucard as she knew of Dr Harkers resemblance to THE Mina Harker made famous in Stokers novel. Her pet vampire being Vlad Dracula of the same novel, Integra was certain Alucard would do something if he found the doctor. While she wasnt sure if that would be some kind of revenge for the betrayal of Mina or something more selfish such as turning the doctor into an undead, Integra knew he would do something. She was secretly relieved when he had reported not entering and leaving the survivors in the conference room. The last thing she wanted was another vampire among the ranks or a dead scientist.
While waiting for Seras return Sir Hellsing had opened a folder she removed from a locked desk drawer and reread the pertinent information it contained. Dr Elizabeta Wilhelmina Murray Harker; female; age 25; born in Romania; PhDs in Genetics, Bioengineering, Biophysics, Internal Medicine, Anatomy & Physiology and Hematology amongst others. Dr Harker prefers to be called Mina. Current project: decoding and analyzing the Freak chips. Dr Harker has discovered a binary translation of a genetic code believed to give the freaks their various characteristics and differences. To date the origin of that code is unknown but similar genetic markers have been noted in the freaks altered DNA codes. The alterations to the natural genetic codes were proven when a Lord Carters youngest son became a freak. Young Carter had a DNA profile on file and when compared to his freak DNA the alterations were noted. Dr Harker theorizes that the freak chips implanted into humans imprints the altered genetic code over the natural code. The mode used to imprint the altered code is unknown but plausible theories include electrical discharge imprinting on the cellular level or altered blood/tissue found imbedded on the chip causing mutation similar to a viral infection.
Integra noted hand written notes at the bottom of the page stating, Dr Harker appears to be on the right track as freak and ghoul attacks against her appear to be increasing. She needs to be protected for the future of humanity. The best chance for anyone solving the freak problem lays with Dr Harker. This note was written by the Queen herself before the file was given to Integra. It struck Integra as quite ironic that Mina Harker pursued and bitten by the vampire Dracula, would be the forbearer of the one to possibly end this plague of freak vampires. A chuckle escaped Sir Hellsing as she mused over the irony before the knock at the door she had waited for was heard.
Enter Seras came the response to the knocks and Seras Victoria, former D11 police team member, entered Sir Hellsings office to make her report. The petite, blonde haired vampire knew her commander was NOT going to be happy to hear her report but tried not to show her apprehension as she approached the large wooden desk. Report. The command had been given and now Seras began.
When we arrived, Sir Integra, the ground level was a bloody mess and the clean-up team began disposing of the body parts. I went to the second level with Sgts Pickman and Steadler. We found the survivors barricaded in a large conference room but Dr Harker was not with them Sir. I asked the survivors where Dr Harker was and they said she had gathered them together minutes before the ghouls arrived, told them to barricade the doors and wait for help to arrive. She told them she would hold off the intruders for as long as she could and left them. No one saw or spoke to her since then. I inquired what Dr Harker had been wearing when last seen and we did not find any bodies among the ghouls wearing a lab coat with the name Harker embroidered on it. She was just not there Sir. It was as if she vanished.
To say Sir Hellsing was less than pleased with this news was an immense understatement. The Knight was entrusted with protecting the doctor and failed. This did not sit well with Integra and she knew it would also not sit well with the Queen. As if she vanished Integra mused. Suddenly Integras eyes grew wide with fury as realization dawned on her Alucard. Her pet monster had found the doctor and taken her somewhere, possible Hellsing Manor even. Integra suddenly stood slamming her palms on her desk startling the draculina present. ALUCARD! she screamed through clenched teeth.
Meanwhile, in the furthest reached of the dungeons, Alucard sat in a chair next to his coffin staring at the woman he had laid within. He closed his eyes and could still see his Elizabeta as if she were standing there before him. Wavy auburn red hair, sapphire blue inquisitive eyes, soft white skin with natural rosy cheeks, full red lips, perfect hour-glass figure with a full bust similar to Seras and a mind that always questioned and challenged. God, how he loved talking with her for hours on end as she always engaged and entertained him. His Angel, his Elizabeta, always understood him and would keep him sane in the insane world they lived in. When she died was when he, Vlad III, had truly died and Dracula was born. He could never really accept the fact that she had committed suicide. It was just so unlike her but those at Poenari he left to protect her had told him she believed the note shot into the fortress that he was dead and wished to join him. So she had jumped from the tower into the river below never to be found, her soul damned to hell for eternity. Alucard always hoped that one day he would join her there but the experiments Abraham and Arthur conducted changed him and even he now doubted death would ever have him.
Blood tears fell from his eyes as he thought of his Elizabeta. He had begun to doubt that he would ever be able to join her in death wherever she may be. Despair once again started to take a deep hold upon the ancient vampire as he silently wept not noticing his Masters call or the woman in his coffin start to stir.
As her eyes fluttered open, Mina noticed it was dark and chilly wherever she currently was. The last thing she remembered before exhaustion overtook her was entering the brightly lit stairwell to go to the second floor conference room and check on her colleagues. She definitely was not in Kansas anymore as she tried to focus her eyes in the darkness. As she was trying to take in her new surroundings Mina felt she was not alone but it was so dark she could not see her hand in front of her face. As she was about to sit up, was she in a box? The door to the room was suddenly thrown open and dim light poured into the room. Mina noticed the dark haired man slumped in a chair next to whatever it was she was laying in just before a voice boomed ALUCARD! Mina knew in that instant her life as it had been was going to change dramatically.
